Series consist of three pictures named “Desire for freedom”, “Freedom” and Fear of freedom. Via series of photos I tried to express human internal conflict which was analyzed by psychoanalyst Erich Fromm in his book - “Fear of Freedom” (“Escape from freedom”). Since time immemorial a man desires for freedom. When he finally gets it, he realizes that he is unable to live freely. He finds that the external freedom is not enough for one to be inwardly free. Freedom brings loneliness, a man must seek his own way, must decide itself. However, every decision is associated with uncertainty. This uncertainty and loneliness cause anxiety, which leads to a fear of freedom. To get rid of anxiety and overcome fear, a man willingly and deliberately surrenders of freedom and submits himself to authority. Although the book was published 75 years ago, its main ideas are current so far.
