I’m here to would like to introduce my works. My works are basically based on papers which have been used as the material and object. Papers can be cut easily and softer than any other materials so children can feel familiar with it to use. Sometimes papers stand for another way of expressing the art, usually papers are just papers. Painters paint on the papers and sculptures figure something out using papers and even children consider papers as one of the useful material to say something out from them. These all way means that papers have been focused on the way to be flat because papers have to be used as the material for the art.
I have worked in the fashion design field for more than 13 years and I used to draw my works on the papers for more than 18 years. And my major subject in the graduate school was paper quilling which has been using the rolled paper to create something. Rolled paper can be a sort of unit enough to can be used like each touch of painting. So I can say that I have been in the middle line between considering papers as simply just material and regarding papers as real subject. Actually paper quilling is also using papers as a material but another way, but still papers are more close to material. So I will try to figure papers out to how to escape from just role of material so can be a subject. I’m combining the papers rolled with the illustrations more detailed. This is the first step to escape from the flat which is a character of paper. Yes, I’m about to focus on the character of flat of paper. What if papers can escape from the flat, how we call paper?
My work starts here: Let us think on behalf of papers. How can papers be a subject not just material? Who makes the limit of papers seem to be flat on the ground for the other ways?
