The Mother Matters (work title) is a chain of individual projects that examine my connection with my mother in different relations. From early childhood till the present day, the projects represent different stages in two human lives that are bounded by family ties. The parent – child relationship is the most peculiar among all, as the independence of the individual, and the capability to make own free choices defined by non-logical reasons, elusive emotions and unexpected situations. It is hard to research it with scientific methods since the artificially created environment or the presence of a third person influences the reactions of the participants in a situation. As an insider my point of view is not objective. But as the project evolves, and the accumulated anger and pain is worked through, a more objective, documentary-style approach is developed. This is a work in progress project that I would like to develop further in the next years. Also I would like to include a research about the ethics of dealing with family matters.
