Dating in the Dark (4)

This drawing/painting taken from the series 'dating in the dark' was made using graphite and white spirit on canvas and depicts an image taken from the reality T.V show 'dating in the dark' in which 3 men and 3 women have rendez-vous in a pitch black room. From flickering day-time T.V screens to the still gallery wall, this work questions the boundaries of high and low culture, as well as the time the viewer spends with the image. As an image in itself, the uncertainty the participants on the show were faced with is translated with affectionate yet violent ambiguity onto canvas.
