Don't Get Me Started
The storyline of this humorous work is implicit in the body language and expression of a young schoolgirl. The girl’s petulance, irritation and anger is also imbued with sadness and humour, The complex emotions portrayed by the artist in this work is the hallmark of Annalynne-the ability to tell a story in comic fashion with an eye for detail and a feeling for paradox and the search for subtle emotion.
The paint is thickly applied to a large canvas and worked in many layers using a palette knife. The colours are dark and lend an air of brooding pathos to the picture. Vibrant colour is injected into the composition, but even the dark colours seem to have a deep and warm saturation.
The atmosphere is created by the subject matter, by the expression of the characters, and the added caption underscoring the picture in comic strip fashion.
