Hotel Bedroom
Travelling can be a voyage of renewal, free of the histories we carry at home, a kind of temporary rebirth of our innocence. But travelling can also be a short cut to alienation, the unattached individuals lost in the act of sightseeing, cut off from their familiar home surroundings. The symbolic nature of the cots can therefore be read ambiguously. They can be seen on one level as sheltering devices shielding their occupants from the surrounding transience but metaphorically, they can represent the rebirth of the innocence attained through travelling or be seen as a restrictive device, severing/alienating their occupants from the immediate environment.
