the flag
The project was born following a report made by the Italian television channel Rai3, which verified the alarming news of a possible new Cold War between Russia and the United States.
The video documentary served as a starting point for my landscapes, in which the quays, the minesweeper ships, the graving docks, along with peaceful nature, fight for space on the canvas.
I consulted General Fabio Mini in order to understand the nature and the destructive powers of the ships filmed in the documentary. The document that accompanies my jpg files explains them in a way that is intelligible to the general public.
In the realization of my work, all these subjects, true to my artistic language, were “distorted” in form and color, in an exercise in fusion and re-orchestration. The canvas was treated with various layers of color, using different techniques, and over the course of several days, so as to allow the most delicate shades to muffle the contrasts and create new combinations, as if the whole work were a gigantic musical score.
