Through the Looking Glass

Through the Looking Glass

"Through the Looking Glass" is the portrait of a man peering through the window to his soul. The geometric style, with its sharpness of lines and shape, trigger the logical and masculine aspects of the self in the bold search for answers and truth. The truth however, as this painting suggests, does not lie merely in what he might see ahead or through the many windows of the future. So as he gazes out, he also attempts to catch a glimpse of his own reflection from the glass of the window, to better understand the past and the indeed the present. The many geometric shapes shown in this piece represent the multiple shifting facets of the self in his search for truth; and as the dark crow sits firmly on the man's shoulder, the man is all too aware that truth has the vivacious power to trigger change. As the man peers through the looking glass, he also tempts the audience to do the same: What truth can you see that will tempt change to come your way?
