Aion

This portrait of my son is a contemplation of what is most dear to my heart. The intellectual and emotional involvement fundamentally integrated the subject, the art, and the artist. Which unveiling a realization of the biological spiritual relationship that transforms the personal sentiment into a transcendental esteem.

The painting began with a successive layers of colors freely applied with brushes, scratched off, and again painted over to create a varied translucency of hues. Pallet knives loaded with pigment were used to cut on the surface to create a raised body of lines, which superimposed over the free flow of mixed colors. The result is a repoussè effect in repetition of lines that accentuate reflective light and shadow over the translucent texture, at once divide and unify the image with an optical vibration in forms and tones. The meticulously dictated line art over the underlying colors and forms embedded the two dimensional plane with a multi-layered surface. This technique resembles a conversion of abstraction, op art and realism--like an embroidered visual cocktail conceived not only for the eyes, but also temptingly inviting for the touch and feel of the canvas.
