The Deposition

Inebriated women pull their drunk friend toward a bed to sleep off the booze in a scene reminiscaent of the removal of Christ from the cross. I am interested in the visual language transferred through time from the Loacoon group to the paintings of Raphael, Titian, Rubens and Van Dyke. I have used this formula for pain and subverted it into a self-inflicted sublime suffering. I enjoy the bleak undermining quality this has; a move from pathos to bathos.
