Watkins Esoteric Centre, Tuesday 1pm, 2017

Watkins Esoteric Centre, Tuesday 1pm, 2017 is an installation belonging to an ongoing series of work The Divination Project, responding to my meetings with numerous spiritual readers internationally. I am interested in positioning the artist as a metaphysical practitioner engaging with real and imagined worlds, asking, What is the significance of divination in today’s world? This work directly responds to several encounters with clairvoyants in London, Hoi An, Los Angeles & New Zealand. Each collection of sculptural forms relates to a specific conversation with a clairvoyant, medium or palm, tarot reader. I was advised widely to; plant seeds for immediate travel, beware of a dishonest courtship and utilise my sixth sense to make artwork. Whilst the readings provided me directional advice from the another dimension, determining the ‘truth’ of these messages is not my focus but rather using them as a catalyst for making. Working this way allows me to investigate the overlap between everyday and the esoteric.
