#25 Beneath the Canopy

Beneath the Canopy is a series of photographs that meditates on issues pertaining to our relationship with nature with particular focus on the damaging attitudes of our culture where our environment is concerned.
Through this work I have a desire to be part of a healing process to strengthen the bond between land and people and to highlight how we are not external to, but enmeshed within the complex and delicate web of the natural world. The recurring motif of symmetry in these works references an ordering system that underlies almost every aspect of our world and its physical laws, including important social interaction in a variety of contexts such as reciprocity, empathy and dialog.
