COSMOS
This installation includes paintings, sculpture and text based on symbolic forms present in nature which are representative of gender hybridity. The series of monochromatic artworks consists of specific organic forms which question the seperation of female and male gender roles and categories. One of the intentions is to explore how gender is produced socially, culturally and historically, and ask whose power does this serve?
The series is inspired by the aphorism, ‘Genderlessness is the new humanism’ from the French author and feminist theorist, Monique Wittig. The work focuses on concepts of gender, sexuality and violence, and seeks to unite queer form with romantic lyricisim and perception.
