Box Landcape

“Box Landscape” e “Oppicital Wood” delineano le tematiche principali del mio lavoro: il paesaggio in relazione al corpo e al percepire la natura e il segno che in esso si dispiega e la trasforma. Le opere, in stretto legame, tracciano una riflessione su ciò che è la veduta paesaggistica in relazione al cranio e soprattutto all’organo che ospita, il cervello e dunque l’immaginazione, l’interpretazione dell’immagine.
In “Box Landscape“ ho raffigurato il cranio umano come un’isola, un luogo mistico in cui le orbite del teschio si trasformano in depressioni morfologiche e la mandibola in catena montuosa.
Focalizzandomi più in profondità, oltre l’aspetto esteriore, in “Occipital Wood” ho tentato di immaginare la spazialità interna della volta cranica, indagando le dinamiche dell’elaborazione visiva e dei suoi meccanismi, mansioni affidate al lobo occipitale dell’encefalo.
Considerando che il nostro cervello non è in grado di immaginare la spazialità in cui è ubicato, ho immaginato questo luogo, relazionandolo alla morfologia dell’encefalo.

“Box Landscape” and “Occipital Wood” represent the main features of my work: the landscape related to the body and to the perception of nature, and the sign, that unfolds and transforms it. The works, highly connected one to another, describe the feeling of the view related to the skull and, most of all, to that part that hosts the brain, the imagination, the interpretation of the image.
In “Box Landscape”, I represented the human skull as an island, a mystical place where the eye sockets turn into morphological valleys and the lower jaw into a mountain range.
By going further, beyond the outer level, in “Occipital Wood” I tried to imagine the inner space of the skull (vault), by exploring the forces of the visual elaboration and its system, whose tasks are entrusted to the occipital lobe of the encephalon. Considering the fact that our brain is not able to imagine its spatiality, I imagined this place, related to the encephalon morphology.
