Cow Vertebrae (axis bone and atlas bone)
Cat mask sits in contemplation. His curved mouth and tunneled eyes make him appear to be a knowing observer. This piece was the first to pull me into this timeless world. Working with the lines of these two bones - the axis and the atlas bone from a cow vertebrae - I marveled at the way bones and sockets fit together interchangeably. This led to a winter study in bones resulting in numerous bone sculptures.
