Flashing Bodies

The concept of Flashing Body Series are facing the desires directly, recollecting the traditional painting skills to capture the flashing virtual illusions. It is also a description of the humanity integration and the illusion based on some kind of desires. The human bodies are illusionary and virtualized, intertwined and covered by dancing colorful lines. Then flashing dazzles circling around the human bodies are exactly the symbol of the infinite possibility of the era we are experiencing. Those images composed of finely lines and lumps, full of gas or liquid, represent the outcomes of the flashing rhythms of spirit and mind of the digital era, which are expected to channel our realistic and blocked mind, wake up the sleepy prototype and soul, get into the heart which is controlled by simple and crude rationality, and the body coerced by desire and greed.

Flashing Body Series try to inspire the imaginations of the viewers: the healthy, sexy and husky female bodies which are popular in 3D games are probably the reflection of the forth sexuality psychological prototype dwelling deep within, or a cast of the Heroine Complex of the masses' Collective Unconsciousness. The digital visual effects that are full of popular design elements, and the oriental decorative patterns are derived from the overall feelings of oriental cultures, not only the characteristics of Chinese culture, but also the other similar cultures like the Persian, Indian, Japanese, etc.

Peng Qi is inspired by Chinese ancient mythologies such as Shan Hai Jing, audaciously paints some marvelous human bodies with animal heads. This series of Flashing Body has strong abstract expressionism characters. These works also show Peng Qi's thoughts of art philosophy of the essence of human body. The body and the covers intertwine, couldn't be departed. The human is different from animals, but connected with them too.
