Whilst They Sleep
In the age of the pixel and image manipulation, digital technology has laid bare the abiding myth that a photograph provides some vestige of objective truth. We now live in a world where the transfer of information and imagery is heavily mediated by technology; we must now navigate two spheres - the real and the virtual - concurrently.
This work holds a mirror to our current divided condition whilst also alluding to a near future when our computer systems operate independently of their creators. Perhaps Douglas Coupland was correct when he asserted in 'Slogans for the 21st Century', that 'the machines are talking about you behind your back.'
