Dreaming Drones
Images by Stijn Stragier
At the beginning of 2015, flying drones were the most popular gift in Belgium.
On short and nervous flights, piloted by unexperienced amateurs, the drones are confronted with the troubling sights of the country’s lack of urban planning. Their cameras are forced to shoot the eclectic results of decades of individualistic thinking.
At night, these drones dream.
Stijn Stragier is architect and photographer. The work ‘Dreaming Drones’ shows a series of pseudo-photographs. Subtle anomalies in the content sparkle the viewer to reconsider assumptions about spatial planning as a result of the relation between neighbors and between humans in general.
About the theme 'Deserting Reality':
Deserting Reality is Dying, the reality of Death is the Cemetery.
I took photo's 2.1 and 2.2 as an add-on to the original series,
specially for the Celeste 'Desserting Reality' Prize.
The original images are digital images - irreal photo's
Photo's 2.1 and 2.2 are real photo's, taken at the Belgian coast
By elevating all detail, the images became irreal,
the Reality of the Cemetery was deserted.
Original size: 10328 x 7760 pixels / printed 120cm by 90cm on dibond, matt laminated
