The nature of things

The nature of things

Both abstract and figurative, The Nature of Things contains references beyond the body touching on natural sciences that involve the study of matter. It plays with balance and weight. Each element is contingent on the other, alternately supporting and being supported. Instead of permanent fixing elements are draped, suspended or stacked giving a sense of danger or the possibility of change. The bodily sized chain mail weight has been constructed from machined components that have been transformed, using multiples and a labour intensive process, into an object that poses questions regarding its origins.
