End of Noddy

End of Noddy

Painting from digital sources is important to my work. The work begins with a process of construction and de-construction. Firstly, painting the initial image which is then left to dry. Secondly, it is scraped and sanded to give a smooth flat surface similar to a computer print-out but retaining that physicality of touch. The third and final stage is a rapid application of paint giving a sense of immediacy. Oil on board

My compliments on your studio painting process.....and on this fascinating series of works. The monotone background studies are cleverly contrasted with the coloured motifs, engaging the viewer into the historical references and narratives. The figurative mark-making seems to have been developed into a convincing, stylish, semi-abstract body of work.
