Shizen (NATURE)

The word “Shizen” means nature in English. This series was inspired from wall and street art in Long Island City, NY. There used to be a famous art building called “5 Pointz” in this neighborhood that was a sacred place for graffiti artists. My studio was located really close to this building and I always got an opportunity to see some really nice graffiti art. However, this neighborhood was practically devoid of greenery and lacked an essence of nature. I thought that depicting some natural elements on the walls in the city might be interesting and could make people feel good, which is what prompted me to start this series.
