You start thinking about children when you get your first baby doll. I was never inclined towards motherhood and my body has never expressed a need for birth. Perhaps I believe in childhood too much.
I always loved animals more than babies.
I never had a good relationship with my mother.
The planet is overpopulated so why would I want to add to the problem.
Mum's not the word
Mum’s not the word confronts the debate of women who choose to go against motherhood as a foundation for future progress. It frictions against the grain of harmony, childbirth and maternal productivity and highlights a new breed of women. The female form highlights solidarity and is a subtle metamorphosis of an attitude towards the feminine reproductive system. The body remains singular as opposed to being fertilised. The foetus is representational of an intimate and introspective metaphysical investigation. It is a posture that relates to the woman as reproducer and is a metaphor for the seed within. The subject is placed against the backdrop of her own duvet cover adding personification to the image when presented as a series. The bed as a place of sexual activity, child birth and in reverse in a space of contemplation.
