Heteronomy
The project ‘Heteronomy‘ outlines the rules our personality is affected by. Rules that mainly come from our parents notions.
To disengage myself from these notions, to move towards autonomy or more precisely to form my very own character, I had to deal with the relationship to my father.
The photographs are a visual escort on the quest in finding the causes that form my selfhood, passing by feelings, fragments of memories and perceptions. Every one of them became an intimate leitmotif of the facets of my father-daughter-conflict.
In the end, this project changed my view on autonomy. The ambition in becoming totally disengaged, leads to losing grip on the roots of your personality. True autonomy means to be conscious of the rules that affect you.
