Rhapsody of St. Peter

Rhapsody of St. Peter

Rhapsody of St. Peter, 2014 introduces sculptural elements onto the canvas using pumice gel and modeling paste. The imposing landscape of St. Peter's adds context and a striking contrast for the three figures intensely engaged in their art. The two in the foreground are females while the third farther in the back is a male child, sitting deeper in the arms created by Bernini's columns. Their positions meld with the landscape to pose more questions. Are the women artists free of historical yolks? Is the child at risk now because of his sex? What context does religion have in art in contemporary society? The multiple canvases contribute to the sense of physical fragmentation occurring to the artists during their performance.
