Falling To Pieces

Falling To Pieces

Pittura, Sentimento, Figura umana, Olio, 100x100x4cm
This painting is not a portrait of a specific person, likely it is an allegory. I guess different people have their association, some of them can connect it with their private life, others can see a complicity of our present.

I decided to represent this state of mind getting inspiration by antic female sculptures, their bodies covered with pleats of flowing tunics but still keeping it actual by turning it into a shorter and simpler t-shirt.

Specifically for this paint I used realism and abstracts. In my objective each element should deliver the drama in the most natural and organic way: the figure, its soul (light shadow on the left) and the external world (background).

Particularly, the figure expression is balanced by the simplicity and purity of the white t-shirt, playing gently with light and shadow. The soul, specular to the figure as to contrast her, shows the internal turmoil going on through the colors, mixing them together and dripping down the canvas. The dark background enhances the overall look and feel of it and represents the adverse external world.
