Sarkofagen
I linked the features of the valleys and rocky outcrops of the environment with the place Sarkofagen in Spitsbergen where I traveled in the summer of 2013. The glaciers are sliding away, and left long moraine landcapes. At that place the mountains are fine-grained sediments, metamorphic rock that originated under the pressure of largescale tectonic movements. The clay minerals have ordered and split into plates and form a phyllite.
The word sarkofagen refers to a particular kind of limestone which could eat meat and speed up the process of decomposition.
I refer to the 'sliced stone' architecture of the station and integrate the mirrored marks for the traffic.
