Bearing the Weight

My work is an intuitive response to the medium and the surface area. This method of working allows for a pure expression of emotions. The emotions are expressed through the varied use of color and markings ranging from very fluid relaxed signatures to rigidly unsettling marks. This direct method of expression creates an immediate documentation of my responses to various states of feeling as exhibited by the discovery of comfort in some sections and unease stressed in other sections. I strive for the successful collaboration between the "process" and emotional response culminating in the finished work of art. Central to my creativity is the belief that to predetermine the outcome in a work by ignoring the roll of "process" as a collaborator is to court deadness. Therefore, the final work is a documentation of the process as well as the various levels and layers of emotions that are addressed during the making of a work of art
