The Thinking Man

"This video piece exposes the internal dialogue of a man sitting on a toilet in the pose of Rodin's 'The Thinker'. The man is in the midst of a thought process which alters his view of himself and the world he inhabits. He undergoes an initiation into the realisation that he does not create the thoughts that he has and he begins to experience the process of thinking as an autonomous occurrence within himself. 'The Thinking Man' documents the evolution of this realization in this particular man and his struggle to come to terms with the fact that he is not the author of the thoughts he previously called his own. As he ceases his identification with his subject state he begins to see that there is another subject, to whom he is an object, within his psyche."
