Crucified Monroe
Inspired by the famous so called last session by photographer Bert Stern.
Stern have always stated that the photographs he took of Monroe where crossed over by her with a felt pen. But the truth according to his assistant at the time Leif Erik Nygård (a close friend of Thomas Dellert), who developed the photographs, is that Marilyn died before ever seeing all the contact sheets. So the picture Stern proudly displays and that have become an icon in modern photography is a fake. The truth is that Marilyn saw a few of the shots and made mark on the ones she did not like with a hairpin.
Stern later added the felt pen crosses himself. In a way he actually did not only go against Marilyn’s wishes not to show these pictures, but actually in a way participating in the "crucifixion" of Monroe. Artistically.
This time the picture has a cross of death representing the injustice done.
