La Familia Zamora
Each Calavera in my work represents a family member or a friend. This painting is what started it all. It is the first painting of my family in what I like to call the "calavera form". This painting represents myself, my mom, my dad, my sister, and even our pet chihuahua, Baby. There is also great symbolic meaning behind each of the Calaveras, including my own. The borders are in what I like to call my “stylized alphabet“. The borders are there to describe the atmosphere of the painting. I love color because it describes my personality. I do not want people to associate death when viewing my work. I want people to feel happy because my paintings represent life.
Overall, My art is all about the people in my everyday life and being able to recreate my memories through my work. My paintings are also meant for the viewer to trigger a memory of their own.
