Biografia
Emilie McDermott is a multi-media and performance artist currently working and living in Paris, France. Her creation focuses on our inner wonderings, and what binds us, both spiritually and physically to our environment as her artistic explorations are chosen with the intent to build a dialogue with the people and surroundings she works with. Dance has a unique role in her art and makes her more aware of the body’s limits and its relationship to the world, the slow melting of boundaries between the body and the space around it. Emilie McDermott explores rituals and associated gestures of our contemporary society, related to beliefs and personal identity, but also questions of control and social structure.
She holds a Master in Fine Arts with highest honors from the Sorbonne University, as well a Bachelor in Fine Arts with honors from Sorbonne University and The Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Art de Paris-Cergy.
