Biografia
Mark Parkinson works predominantly in painting and drawing he has been a working artist since 1997. He has worked out of Birmingham, Manchester and Preston, where he currently resides. He produces paintings, drawings, prints and also floor based installations. His work is constantly in flux, but always draws on childhood experiences/memories a sense of place and ideas of identity; he grew up on city social housing estates, which heavily influences his work, though not always directly through imagery. His work is driven by responses to situations and memories a need to reclaim identity and place down markers against the ever shifting contemporary landscape and media portrayals of identity.
