Carolina Oltra´s Statement
In the landscape I find the territory for my works.
The exploration and the recognition of the alterations of the natural environment caused by the human action, when the Act of fencing with barbed wires limits the access, when the metal meshes that contain rocks accommodate nature in the desert, I move by the territory traveling and exploring. Product of territory and object studies, on the edges of the horizon, with its problems of landscape, which have to do with making the invisible visible. Push back the limits of public and private borders.
I find the territory for my Artwork by capturing landscapes throught photography in a contemplative process. This allows me to discover the abstraction that makes sense based on the human print and the history of the landscape. I do this by using art installations and manipulated readymade objects, to reveal desolated lands that show symtoms of vanishing in order to reanimate them.
