The opening events
The exhibition preview, open to press and public, will be on friday the 3rd of february from 12:00, introduced by prof. Vittori Sgarbi and the artist. A rare occasion to enjoy the artist works in a more in-deep and relaxed way. Welcome drink included.Around 18:30 the vernissage will be presented by Oliver Orest Tschirky, and there will be the Butoh performance by Imre Thormann.
Venue and mountingThe Stelline Foundation is an historic institution in Milan established in 1986 by the Lombardy Region and the City of Milan, organizing and promoting projects, exhibitions, research, publishing and actions for contemporary and 20th century art.
The Stelline Foundation promotes an action coordinated and supported by Lombardy Region, networking with the exhibition programs of the City and the Province of Milan, and is a place for communication, fashion, technology, science and information for regional and national territory. More than three hundreds organized events among art shows, exhibitions and meetings from its foundation till today.
Major art exhibitions of high quality and impact have been devoted in recent years to major artists of the 20th (Arturo Martini, Marc Chagall, Picasso, Mario Sironi, F.T. Marinetti, Rousseau, Carlo Carrà, Ottone Rosai, Ardengo Soffici), to international contemporary artists (Tony Cragg, Mario Schifano, Gabriele Basilico, Valerio Berruti, Leonard Freed) and new talents in Italy and abroad (Beauty not/so Difficult, The city of Leonardo, Looking for the border, Dreams of a possible city, United Artists of Italy, Twister, Praise of Semplicity).Forum Factory is a cultural and exhibition space located in the heart of Berlin, at walking distance from Checkpoint Charlie and the Jewish Museum. The structure works among others with the local University of the Arts and Kunsthalle Berlin.
In both locations the installation will consist of ten unique pieces of medium size, which will compose a narrative loop, and a monumental work of 4x2 meters.
In the center of the room a mysterious metal cube will be the focus of the performance of Imre Thormann, Swiss performer among the greatest interpreters of Japanese Butoh dance, which is evocative, poetic and surreal as the obsession represented by the works on display.
The artist
L’ artista vicentina Monica Marioni indaga da diversi anni il rapporto tra mente e corpo nell’individuo contemporaneo. Le tecniche miste improntate all’interazione tra materiali di derivazione industriale, le fotografie, l’arte digitale mista agli interventi pittorici presentano una continua evoluzione della figurazione che, emersa dall’astratto materico denso ed enigmatico degli esordi, sviluppatasi attraverso lo studio dell’espressività dei volti, è giunta oggi alla completa personificazione delle diverse voci figlie delle nevrosi che popolano la mente dell’individuo contemporaneo.
Marioni ha all’attivo diverse esperienze espositive in Italia ed all’estero, tra le quali l’installazione EgO, presentata a Venezia nel 2009 nell’ambito dell’evento collaterale alla 53esima Biennale D'Arte di Venezia denominato Detournement Venise; la personale presso il Museo de Arte Italiana di Lima nell’ambito del foro economico culturale tra italia e Perù – 2009 e la personale Ninfe, realizzata nel 2010 a Vicenza in collaborazione con Fondazione Vignato per l’Arte a cura di Oliver Orest Tschirky.
Curators
Vittorio Sgarbi is among the first Italian critics in Art history. Very charismatic, Mr. Sgarbi appareance has always the power to grab attention from media and public. His ability to speak so directly, ironically and simply, makes of him an artist himself.
Oliver Orest Tschirky is Art critic and independent curator. From several years on he works internationally on artistic projects,exhibitions, art coaching and consulting. He had been director of Art Academy in St. Gallen and Geneva Artvera's Gallery, curator for Kunsthaus Langenthal; among the major tasks in the art system, he had experience as manager of Art Basel and Art Basel Miami Beach in 2004-05, and as assistant curator at the Museum of Fine Arts in Berne (CH).
