I'll be a presenter at Subtle Technologies this year speaking about the collaborative project I did with Dr. Bret Tobalske, head of the Flight Studies Laboratory at the University of Montana. I used footage from his lab combined with live footage of migrating birds along the Columbia River in Oregon in a project that resulted in both a stand alone video and an interactive installation. Bret taught me to use the Da Vis system of digital particle velocimetry, which enables scientists to see normally invisible air currents through the application of vivid colors and moving wire frame grids.
