HOME SWEET SHOW
Curated by Ala Sernetz

Opening: 10 December 2010, 6-9pm

In this exhibition the artists revisit some of the themes that are intimate and autobiographic events, which play an important role in each of their works. All works have been created specifically for HOME SWEET SHOW.

Marco Thiella’s formal language echoes different contradictory modernisms: Using a variety of found and painted cardboards, their forms and shapes are somehow reminiscent of minimalist art of the 1960s. Their materials remind us of Arte Povera.

The neutrality of black provides an opportunity to experiment with form in the absence of color. A range of layers and depths reference the human body and character. Together the pieces serve a certain purpose; taken apart, however, the segments are warped beyond use.

‘When the collectors come’, is an ironic take on the art market: The dialogue strips the art from it’s original meaning by reducing it to two common phrases, fusing those into an endless dialogue between ‘available’ and ‘sold’.

Hidden fragments, coal stuck on top of each other, are placed in the boxes, bringing them to live.
