Exhibition OPEN CALL: Transgression
Mostre, Regno Unito, London, 27 March 2011
Beers.Lambert Contemporary Art is proud to present Transgression, an exhibition on London's renowned Vyner Street, that seeks artists who explore concepts pertaining to sexuality and gender-constructs in their practice. The exhibition will be held in conjunction with the University of Kent and the London Institute of Philosophy's related symposium on issues of sexuality and aesthetics (June 16-18).

Transgression seeks art-practices that challenge the representation and constitution of sexuality and gender in normative society. Beers.Lambert is interested in exhibiting perspectives that articulate, expose, confront, defy, challenge, or question sexuality and gender constructs, and the representation of these modalities in both art and society. This may include issues of sexuality and gender generated from (hetero)normative perspectives, but also issues and representations of relevance to LGBT communities, feminist perspectives, and marginalized voices. The exhibition also aims to examine how these issues are mitigated in art and society through censorship and controversy, and how they are informed and defined through media, politics, history, and technology.

Artists from all parts of the world working in all media are welcome to submit an application for consideration. Exhibited artists will be included in a catalogue/publication alongside discourse from conference contributors.

DEADLINE for submissions: March 27, 2011
