Pursuit of Happiness has been inspired by Thomas Jefferson's phrase in the Declaration of Independence. Written in 1776 in a newly formed United States of America:

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness."

The multi disciplinary project Pursuit of Happiness includes paintings, photographs and aesthetic text commenting on American idealism related to the concept of home. The iconic white picket fence mixes metaphorically among the abandonment. Homes have life when people live and play in them. The world's current state of affairs; politically, economically, and virtually has proved damaging to the safe place of home.

The loss, lack and general reduction of homeownership in first world countries has opened the horizon to mass abandonment. The art of the game of investment versus familial survival has reached a new level. Snap shots have captured a quick glimpse in the United States, with the artist's intention to return to these places again in hopes of finding restoration and revelry.

Stacy Gibboni is an American artist living and working in Venice, Italy. She holds degrees from the Savannah College of Art and Design and New York University.
