Arte Immagina Art Fair
Mostre, Reggio Emilia, Reggio nell'Emilia, 21 October 2011
The most used materials in some works and the color selection mark the basic oriental character next to the individual signature of the artists. The figurative paintings by the Turkish artist Ali Zülfikar find out the mysteries of nature also in the material. He paints his pictures with wool colors and self-developed vegetable dyes by traditional oriental recipes to achieve a more vibrant color strength of the earth tones. He also glues pieces of traditional kilim rugs with their geometric patterns into his paintings and uses eastern Anatolian sand so that its characters - mostly Western women dressed in sneakers, watching the distance - gain flatness and don't merge with the background. The loss of native country, after which Zülfikar characters yearn is big but not overwhelming.
