PACA_Proyectos Artisticos Casa Antonino was born in 2013 as an artist run space, created and headed by the Asturian artist Virginia Lopez who has came back to her hometown ,Gijón, after 14 years living in Italy. Virginia's cultural project PACA is defined as a space of training and continuous artistic creation, which offers international artistic residences in a traditional hamlet located in Trubia, a rural area located in Gijón ( Asturias)
Martin Calcagno's first collaboration (For JUSTRESIDENCE//JUSTMAD Art Fair, Madrid, 19-23 feb.2014, curated by Andrea Pacheco) lays the foundation for future activities that will be developed in PACA : artistic residences, temporary exhibition, educational activities, seminars, workshops ( particularly focused on the site-specific practice on contemporary arts) as well as open spaces for collaboration. In addition, PACA will give particular attention to the study of the rural environment in which is located, due to its great yet unknown landscapes, economy and culture resulting from the proximity to urban and industrially developed areas.
