Biografia
I am a multi-disciplinary artist working predominately in collage, moving image and sound. My work is process orientated, combining obsolescence, science, nature and industry. I build works using precise templates and create hybrid forms revealing a positive/negative structural outcome. My method of collage often combines two equally sized images specifically referencing the two points in digital video compression where certain information can be removed to allow for file reduction, the iframe and a pframe. The loss of information using this method of compression can cause frames to blend together.
My process allows me to build a structure, or a manual algorithm that once finalised will allow me to complete the work without control of final image. This like white-noise, static and tape burn creates accidental patterns and abstractions. Sound and moving image work is created using similar methods, creating hybrids using pre-existing forms.
