For an artist, Bing's had a bit of an unorthodox start, as a professional musician (for15 years). A twist of fate meant a change of career when he broke three fingers and subsequently moved into the moving picture world. What followed was a highly successful, 14-year career behind the camera as a Camera Operator, Director of Photography and Director.

In 2015 Bing decide to give everything up and go back to his first love.

Using skills he acquired in the film world, he thought, instead of working on 24 frames, he’d channel all his energy towards one frame.

Bing spent five months testing all sorts of medium, but he was disappointed with the results. As he was mixing up to 2 trillion colours, nothing could produce the quality he was looking for…

Then he stumbled across CHROMALUXE 1.2 mm aluminium HD panels. Using a process called ‘dye sublimation’ to fuse images on to metal. The term ‘sublimation’ describes the transition of a substance (in this case, the special inks) directly from the solid to the gas phase without becoming a liquid first. Using both heat and pressure the dye particles change into a gas, bond with the polymers in the aluminium, and then change back into a solid state; fusing the image and aluminium together.

CHROMALUXE prints are archival, highly resilient and require no additional glass, acrylic, lamination or coating to protect them. The dye sublimation process renders images waterproof, abrasion resistant, fire resistant and chemical resistant – making artwork suitable for almost any interior or exterior environment.
