My art practice centres around the exploration of the conceptual boundaries of different disciplines, the representation of spatial concepts and views of the landscape, relationships of scale and the symbology of numbers.
'Some of my early inspiration came from looking at the landscape from the light airplane when I accompanied my father who flew charter flights to the Australian opal mining towns of Andamooka and Coober Pedy. This view of the landscape has always stayed with me. What we call geography is actually a complex of conceptual relationships. Our relations and connections with things are a dialogue between the material 'apparent' worlds and the immaterial 'abstract' worlds. The conventions used to represent the material have become extremely attenuated but we hardly notice this. The language of this dialogue is constantly changing. Our mistake is that we regard the convention, the representation, as an original.'
In 2017 I have expanded my art in the areas of digital drawing and design. I use a synthesis of digital and 'direct' drawing techniques in the realisation of finished artwork.
I also work in the field of geospatial information systems, as well as being a musician/composer.
