Biografia
Fundamentally, my practice is an investigation into environments. I create paintings, mixed media works and photographs that intend to highlight certain nuances or characteristics within a landscape or domain. This is often achieved by simplifying, altering or even removing elements of an image to draw the attention of the viewer to those aspects. In this way my work is a form of abstraction but not always abstract in the way that the term has come to be understood.
Within my main focus there are many problematic sub-themes such as transience/endurance, originality/derivation, control/chaos, science/poetry but I am also simply interested in the strange and compelling act of making art. My aim as an artist is to find and extract a previously unseen beauty or idiosyncrasies from my surroundings.
