Biografia

Trevor Van den Eijnden is a Canadian visual artist, and educator. His work combines an interest in pattern design, patterning, and environmental issues such as solastalgia, into assembled referents of the Anthropocene. Current work has centred on mapping naturalist wallpapers against shifts in philosophical and biological understandings of nature, as well as exploring the possible ideological boxes that constrain as well as contain our ways of understanding and interacting with the natural world. This is focused on the dystopia as a trap of pessimism, eutopia as a mirage of optimism, and utopia as the only possible place for activism in a world that is no longer functioning for our own benefits, nor for the living and non-living entities we share the Earth with.
