Biografia

I make body adornments, predominantly out of fibreglass casts and metal, that manifest as seemingly unwearable accessories and garments which morph the human silhoette. My work interlinks and takes influences from art, fashion and jewellery, taking inspiration from armour, Gothic monsters and the animal kingdom. The wearable sculptures have been displayed both on bodies and separate from them. I sometimes use photography as documentation of the objects being worn, where the images form ambiguous portraits, which juxtapose influences from science-fiction with wildlife photography. My photographs attempt to capture a moment of becoming; of a human becoming more than human and transforming into the ‘other’. My body adornments combine unwearable fashion garments with defensive animalistic armour to give the appearance of human adaptation, looking to both the past and the towards the future for inspiration.
