Biografia

I have always been fascinated by the question how mankind creates its surroundings and how these creations influence us in return. What do the things we make and build as human beings say about us, and what are the consequences of these creations.

My work consists of sculptures, site-specific works, installations, drawings and photography. All these aspects are equal parts in my quest for visual elements that tell something about the anthropological context in which people live.

Photography is the contemplative part of my research and reflects the broad cultural context of our built enviroment. My drawings are subtle translations of my ideas and philosophies, in which I am looking for insights into a visual language in which all coincides.

The sculptures are the result of my ideas as a reaction to my research. They usually consist of figurative forms that I abstract to create a new world, with my preference for materials that are flexible such as textiles, clay, or castable materials like concrete.
