Biografia
I was born in Gibraltar, 1982. I studied BA Hons Graphic Design at Leeds University. Here I experimented using various mediums and genres, such as photography, product design, marketing, role play, video art, animation and of course, Fine Arts. During my time at Leeds University I also undertook a course on Music and Film Journalism. Despite being offered a PR position at a local Leeds graphic design company I decided to come back to my routes and study Art & Design at a P.G.C.E teaching level. Here I was able to transfer my skills into my now current job as a secondary school teacher. Whilst exhibiting paintings when the occasion arose. Throughout my time in University I also kept active in the art scene.
In 2005 I returned to Gibraltar to teach at Bayside Comprehensive School where I feel I have had a great influence upon the young artists of Gibraltar. I also had an influence in the birth of the annual local young artist competition.
Apart from several pupils winning prizes and being highly commended, I have tried to lead by example by winning several awards in my artistic career. One of which was awarded by a very prestigious RA member, Mick Moon. I also received in 2009 a very acclaimed 1st prize in the Gibraltar Spring Art Festival, as well as a 2nd prize in the prestigious International Open Art Exhibition.
My artistic style has been described as being of an expressionistic nature but what I can safely say is that my style has changed and developed throughout the course of the last 5 years. I do not shy from trying new techniques and ideas. My art influence: Having a graphic design background parallel with my love for the Fine Arts, I always try to show a great diversity in my artworks. This is evident by the range of mediums and styles I have used. Recently in 2012 I begun a new series using an old and more traditional wood burning technique of Pyrography. As well as using this more traditional method of producing an artwork; I have merged it with using oils, acrylics as well as varnishes and stains. Recently I have been very much working with found scrap metal and hydrochloric Acid. Once the sheet of metal has been prepared I have used them as a form of canvas for my landscape paintings. I am proud to say that my most recent success has been getting to the finals of this years 247th Royal Academy Summer Exhibition with my artwork 'Bayview Clock Tower.
