Biografia
As an artist who uses my private life and experiences to inspire emotions and thoughts that other people share, I can endorse Louise Bourgeois’ testimony that ‘art is a guarantee
of sanity’. In fact, art is a personal search for a connection with my surroundings, for acceptance.
With a background in journalism and art critique, I have a varied experience as a visual artist, using mainly documentary photography to create my bridge with reality. With both digital and analogue photos of my private experiences, memories and body, I challenge people to recognise their own feelings and emotions. The idea that ‘private’ and ‘public’ can be overlapping and complementary.
My work also tries to create a dialogue between captured images and conceptual creations. For that I complement my photography with collage, embroidery, installations, video and mixed media on canvas. The use of other mediums, therefore, becomes the element that interconnects my abstract perception of the world and my appeal to reason.
I believe that art can be a genuine path to transform society and that is my main motivation to develop my artistic practice. In a way, my work is a confession, a story in which I am both the author and a character trying to communicate with others. It is an emotional release, as much as a need for understanding my surroundings and myself.
