Biografia
My name is Bruno Mertens (°1968) and I am trained in ceramic and graphic art at the Academie of fine arts in Ghent. I am living in Wondelgem, near Ghent.
As a technique I use cut nails to scratch in a MDF board with a acrylic coating as surface. The plate with grooves is then rubbed with different color pigments and fixed.
In my work are the elements flow, collision and chaos and order essential and they symbolize the constant change of life. Lines follow each other, engage in dialogue or in conflict and form larger patterns and shapes.
Just like the lines in our skin, each work has its own structure and texture, its own character.
